In 2017, Samaritan's Purse responded to hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and the Caribbean.

Now we're focused on reconstruction projects in Texas, as well as on Puerto Rico, Barbuda, St. Martin, and Dominica.

Samaritan's Purse brings urgently needed relief to families devastated by the wind, rain, and storm surge of catastrophic hurricanes. Whether in the United States or abroad, we come alongside hurting people to provide emergency supplies and practical help in the Name of Jesus Christ.

In the continental United States, we send disaster relief units—tractor trailers stocked with equipment and supplies—to hard-hit areas where we set up volunteer centers in partnership with local churches. Our staff and volunteer teams then work to assist hurting homeowners by cutting trees, tarping roofs, and performing mud-outs. As we work, we boldly present the hope of the Gospel.

After Hurricane Harvey, we responded from five bases across southeastern Texas. We fielded nearly 10,500 volunteers and served nearly 3,000 homeowners. We praise God that more than 540 people repented and placed their faith in Christ for salvation through the witness of our volunteers and Billy Graham Response Team chaplains. In mid-November, we started long-term rebuild projects in Pearland and Rockport, Texas. Our volunteers are continuing restoration work and new construction.

Following Hurricane Irma, we responded from four sites in Florida. Our final site, in Key West, closed over Thanksgiving weekend. Our more than 3,100 volunteers helped 900 homeowners and almost 200 salvations were reported.

When major hurricanes hit overseas or international locations, we deploy a disaster assistance response team (DART) to quickly bring in and distribute a variety of emergency supplies. We leverage our Samaritan's Purse aircraft, including our DC-8 cargo plane, to assist.

In response to hurricanes Irma, Jose, and Maria, we airlifted generators, food, water purification units, hygiene kits, blankets, and heavy-duty shelter plastic to multiple islands of the Caribbean. As we ministered in the wake of these devastating storms, we shared the Good News of Jesus Christ alongside local church partners.

Our initial emergency response has finished across the islands, but we've already transitioned to the work of rebuilding homes and churches on Dominica, St. Martin, and Barbuda. After a massive disaster relief response on Puerto Rico, we are now focused on reconstruction efforts there as well.

Please continue to pray for all those affected by the historic 2017 hurricane season, which brought so much pain and suffering to so many.
