In Memory Of
Elizabeth Morford - Lowell, MI

Elizabeth Ann (“Betty”) Morford, mother of two, grandmother of six, great-grandmother of four and friend of countless others, passed away on December 5, 2022, at the age of 87.

Betty lived a full life, combining her enduring sense of fun, competitive spirit, strong faith and no-nonsense counsel to impact the lives of all who were fortunate to know her.

She was born on March 5, 1935 and grew up in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York on her parents’ small dairy farm. She left the farm at the age of 18 to attend Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where she met her husband William Morford, a fellow New Yorker with whom she shared a love of the Brooklyn Dodgers. They moved to Schenectady, New York, where in addition to raising her family, she ran an in-home fashion sales business for many years. Following Bill’s death in 1985, Betty set a new course, moving back to Michigan where she served at the VFW National Home for Children as a house mother and counselor to orphan children of veterans. Throughout, she was active in living out her faith, holding Bible studies, and entertaining, counseling, and praying for her many friends and family.

Betty will be greatly missed by her children William, Jr. (Anne) and Craig (Mary Jo); her grandchildren Tracy, Craig Jr. (Katy), John Peter, Tom (Ally), Sarah, and John David; great-grandchildren Craig III "Tripp", Ella, Robert, and Nellie; as well as her many friends, including Monica (Bill) Burtt, who became like a daughter during her years in Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, Betty’s wishes were for donations to be made her favorite Christian charity, Samaritan’s Purse.
