In Memory Of
Gary Edward Martin - Raleigh,, NC

With saddened hearts and uplifted eyes, we wish to inform you of the passing of our beloved Gary Edward Martin into the hands of our Creator.

Gary was a father, brother, educator, and supporter and guide to all who knew him. He served in the US Army and was a proud American. He loved his children, his extended family, his home, and he especially loved his high school sweetheart, Janet Roland Martin.

He was eternally supportive, never lacking in enthusiasm or a kind word for a job well done. He loved seeing beauty in the smallest things: a sunset, a flower, and the changing of the leaves.

Gary was also a perfectionist at heart. No detail was too small to attend to, and he always taught his boys the wisdom: "if it’s worth doing, it's worth doing well." He enjoyed music, cars, a good movie, current events, a good cup of coffee, and a conversation. He was a deep thinker and a wonderfully enlightened conversationalist. Aristotle said, "The mark of an intelligent mind is the ability to entertain an idea without accepting it." In this regard and others, he was exceptional. Always quick to lend an ear and to give you his full attention, he made you feel important, and most of all, he made you feel understood. Even if he didn’t agree with you, he would stand by you.

This is why he was such a bedrock to so many who knew him. This is why we loved him.

Gary is survived by two children, Greg and Chris Martin; five grandchildren, Jackson, Ava, Landon, Ella, and Noah Martin; and a sister, Barbara Martin Baker.

We rejoice in the knowledge that he is reunited with his beloved wife Janet in eternity, where we shall meet them ourselves when our time is called.
